A complete in-home clinical assessment

The general medical examination is the benchmark assessment of the patient's state of health: it combines questioning (motive, history, current treatments), physical examination device by device - cardiac and pulmonary auscultation, abdominal palpation, basic neurological examination, skin inspection - and the taking of vitals (blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, capillary glycemia). In the home, this check-up saves the patient the trip and the wait, which is decisive for a person who is elderly, febrile, with reduced mobility or simply concerned about a new symptom.

When to ask for a general examination at home

The request is justified by persistent fatigue, unexplained fever, shortness of breath, diffuse pain, follow-up after hospital discharge, or simply the need for a complete health check-up without having to go through a waiting room. The examination enables us to distinguish between what can be treated simply at home and what requires further examination or specialist advice. The doctor makes a diagnosis, writes a prescription and, if necessary, refers the patient to a specialist. home medical consultation follow-up.

An integrated medical team, not a visiting doctor

Since 2011, from its base in Bab Ezzouar, Magh Assistance has relied on a team of over 120 doctors trained in Swiss protocols (Swissmedic standards). These doctors are not called in on an ad hoc basis: each patient has a centralized medical file, so that the returning doctor already knows the patient's history and treatment. This continuity changes the quality of the assessment, because a general examination becomes meaningful when compared with previous data.

A mobile technical platform to go further

The examination is not limited to the stethoscope. Our doctors have a mobile platform at their disposal: 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG), 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure measurement (ABPM) and portable ultrasound, performed directly in the home. When faced with a cardiac symptom or unstable blood pressure, these tools enable us to make a decision on the spot, rather than waiting for an office appointment. If an acute situation is confirmed, our own ambulances ensure seamless transfer of care.

Rates and organization

The general medical examination at home is billed between 3,500 and 4,000 DA for a general practitioner consultation, with a surcharge at night, weekends and public holidays. Visit nursing acts (sampling, injection) are billed separately. Details can be found on the rates and the estimate is always announced before the intervention.

An accessible health point, with no need to forego care

Many people put off having a check-up because they can't get there: this is precisely what the service prevents. By coming to the patient's home, the doctor makes the check-up accessible to those who need it most - the elderly, tired patients, families without vehicles - and enables early detection of a problem which, if neglected, would have worsened. The report given after the visit can be shared with a relative or GP, ensuring continuity of care beyond the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a general examination replace a laboratory test?

No: it's a clinical assessment that may lead to the need for tests. The doctor then prescribes a test, and a nurse from the team can take the sample at home.

How long does it take a doctor to get here?

In Greater Algiers, the visit is organized within hours of the call, 24 hours a day; the exact time is confirmed as soon as the call is received.

Is it possible to examine an elderly person living alone?

Yes, this is one of the most frequent situations. The report can be forwarded to a relative, even abroad, and the centralized file guarantees follow-up from one visit to the next.
